The Comets have completed a Trophy Treble in 2018.
This season will go down in history after the Comets last night added the Championship Shield to their earlier Championship and Knock-out Cup trophy haul and so complete a memorable treble winning season for the Comets.

Afterwards, a delighted Comets team manager Tony Jackson said: “I still can't believe how this has all turned out, I don't think any of us can to be honest. Winning the treble has exceeded all of our wildest dreams.

“After years and years of not winning anything and being beset by bad luck at crucial times it has just all fallen into place this season despite still suffering some bad luck; primarily with the loss of young Dan Bewley in late August. When that happened we genuinely thought our hopes of picking up any silverware had ended there and then. And, after that, we also lost the services of Ty Proctor late in the season and we had to re-group and dig deep once more to get us to where we are.

“But, we just kept plugging away and the team spirit has just grown and grown as the season has gone on. Everyone has been pulling for each other and if one guy has a bad night someone else has stepped up to the plate to cover for him. It has been incredible to be a part of it.

“Thankfully we were able to get some good guests who all performed for us and although we have no team members with big averages we are solid, with everyone capable of winning races home and away. Even young Kyle Bickley has really stepped up in the past couple of months as he has become more accustomed to racing at this level and his points have also been crucial in getting us to where we are.

“It has been a real team effort both on and off the track and the success starved supporters have loved every minute of it as much as we have and we thank everyone that has helped us in any way whatsoever this year. It has definitely been a season that no-one in Workington will ever forget!”

Club owner Laura Morgan added: "When we put this side together at the start of the season many people doubted it but we knew they had the potential to do well and they have proved that with an incredible treble.

"As club owner and Promoter I am absolutely delighted at our achievement obviously, but this is fantastic not just for us, but for Workington and for West Cumbria. This has put us firmly on the map and I could not be more proud of the effort and commitment shown by the riders and everyone connected with the club and I am so pleased for our supporters to finally be able to give them some success!"
